How to Split Screen on Windows 10?

If you simultaneously work with multiple windows opened, you are probably having a bit of a problem navigating through them. Yes, you are probably using functions such as ALT + TAB for easier switching between them, but still, too many opened windows inevitably lead to confusion.

However, that doesn’t have to be like that, because, other than the easy switching between the opened windows, Windows 10 also offers the option to split your screen, which may be problem-solving for many users. Therefore, let’s not waste your time and get down to it.

How to Split Screen on Windows 10

1. Although there are a couple of ways you can split your screen in Windows 10, the fastest and the easiest of them is definitely with the help of Windows 10 feature named Snap Assist. However, this function needs to be enabled before it can be used, which can be done in a few steps that demand that you enter the Start Menu, select “Settings”,

   

   go to “System”

   

   and chose “Multitasking”.



2. Once you have done that, make sure that the toggle bellow “Snap windows” is turned on, and that squares next to “When I snap a window, automatically size it to fill available space”, “When I snap a window, show what I can snap next to it”, and “When I resize a snapped window, simultaneously resize any adjacent snapped window” are marked.

   

   Now, Snap Assist should be activated, and you should be able to continue the rest of the process by opening the windows that you need for your work.

3. After that, you need to select one of the opened windows, left-click on their empty area at the top, and keep it pressed while you drag it to the left side of the screen, as far as the mouse allows.

   

   When you can’t move the mouse any longer, let it go and the selected window should now be placed on the left side of your screen.

4. Now, you need to select the window that is going to be located on the right side of your screen, either by left-clicking on one of the remaining windows,

   

   or by repeating the same process as with the first window, with the difference that you need to move the window to the right.



5. After that, you are only left to drag the “dividing line” in a way that suits you

   

   and that is it.
